Preb… Wint? v.2.0

April 17, 2008

I’m happy to report that my latest experiment, that of coaching “print” designers to design web graphics, went surprisingly well. It’s no secret that bringing a new body onto a project can lead to fresh ideas, and this scenario was no different. Meticulous art direction, combined with a collaborative team environment, yielded pleasantly unexpected results. I hope to be able to share our work very soon.

Preb…Wint?

April 11, 2008

As I am typing this, I am faced with a new challenge: coach PRINT designers to design WEB sites. Why? Primarily to utilize existing in-house resources rather than farm out, or hire, new bodies. But that’s probably about as much information as I should divulge at this point.

I have nearly a decade of web experience under my belt. I’m in sync with today’s web trends and standards. I’ve embraced the restrictions of the medium and now know how to seamlessly incorporate them into my work. Restrictions that, if unfamiliar with, can severely limit an otherwise good designer. How do I package and transfer all of this specialized knowledge to someone within the scope of a single project?

I’ll keep you posted.

What’s In A Name?

If you’ve made it this far, you’re probably wondering, “what’s d-i-g-i-t-a-n-i-c spell? what does it even mean?” Well, it’s a new word… you’ll probably hear it a lot – or not. It’s Digital. It’s Gigantic. It’s… that’s right.

So what’s the point? I suppose this will be the place where I rant about work woes, industry chatter, design and web design process. All things hip, cool and whatnot. I’m making this up as I go. So, here goes nothin’…
